From 19 to 22 September 2024, the National Academic Congress of Urology (CUA 2024) was held in Tianjin, bringing together leading experts, clinicians, researchers, and industry professionals from across China’s urology community.
Organised by the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Urological Association (CUA) and jointly hosted by several leading medical institutions in Tianjin, the event served as an important platform for academic exchange, clinical discussion, and the latest developments in urological care.

At CUA 2024, Dornier and WIKKON, both part of Advanced MedTech, participated jointly and showcased their respective technologies and solutions in extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), drawing strong interest from attending experts and clinicians.
Their joint presence reflected the complementary strengths of two established companies within the same group, while maintaining clear distinctions in their individual innovation histories and product portfolios. Dornier’s legacy in shock wave medicine dates back to 1980, when Dornier MedTech developed the world’s first ESWL device — the Dornier HM1 (Human Machine 1) — a breakthrough widely recognised for transforming the treatment of urinary stones and pioneering a new era of non-surgical stone management.
Today, Dornier and WIKKON continue to contribute to the advancement of ESWL through their respective areas of product development, clinical application, and technological innovation, supporting increasingly efficient, precise, and non-invasive treatment options for clinicians and patients.
On the sidelines of CUA 2024, Dornier and WIKKON jointly convened the 5th Tianjin Extracorporeal Shock Wave Standardized Training Course, an official satellite event of the congress, bringing together leading experts and scholars to share the latest developments in ESWL.
A key milestone during the programme was the inauguration of an ESWL Training Center jointly supported by Dornier and WIKKON, underscoring their shared commitment to clinical education and industry development. The course also celebrated the China launch of the Dornier Delta III and the newly upgraded WIKKON HK.ESWL-Vm, highlighting the latest developments from each company’s respective product portfolio.
